WORK IN PROGRESS:
my papier-maché experiment
I want to know what happens when we slow down and become present in the process of making art.
How could noticing and engaging in the dialogue between the material, the process and ourselves give us an opportunity to know and understand our patterns and beliefs?
A move across countries, cultures and systems disrupted everything I thought I knew about my pace, my art and about myself.
Landing in Spain with limited space, limited materials and faced with an entirely new approach to life, I was forced into a slower, more tactile way of creating. Papier-maché became the perfect medium to add a sense of creativity and lightness to my days.
Working layer by layer, I began to see how each vessel mirrored my own internal shifts. The bowls and vases became teachers, revealing my own patterns, resistances and new possibilities as I adjusted my life around this transition.
My papier-maché experiment or THE LAYERED APPROACH is my ongoing exploration of how change shapes us and how the act of making can show us who we’re becoming.
